We are reading the story "The Invention of Hugo Cabret" in class. We have just finished chapter 5 called "Hugo's Father". Hugo's father was trying to fix an Automaton (mechanical man). We found a video on youtube showing what an Automaton looks like and writes and draws. We thought it was going to be big but it was smaller than we thought. We wonder what the Automaton will write in the story. We were surprised with how many cogs and wheels that it had in it.
We discovered that Brian Selznick based this story on the mechanical man in the video.
